FROM SCGTS TO ASCEND SC
Our History
Our company was founded in 2002 as SC Global Tubular Solutions (SCGTS), to help Sumitomo Corporation Tubular Division establish industry-leading steel supply operations for the global energy sector.
Since that time we have built on our foundational expertise with an emphasis on the digitization and sustainable innovation that will create the next generation of supply chain management. In 2023, we rebranded our company as Ascend SC to highlight our mission to help partners elevate their performance and create new value in their operational models.
Our approach
We work with stakeholders across Sumitomo Corporation to create and deliver best in class products, services and innovation with a primary focus on the global energy sector.
Global Culture
Based in Houston, Texas, the majority of our team works in close proximity to Sumitomo Corporation of the Americas and many of its subsidiaries in the oil and gas industry. However, as a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation based in Japan, we manage supply chain projects in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, allowing many employees to rotate through those locations for long term
assignments. For those not on an international assignment, their local responsibilities still require global relationships as they support these projects and best practices around the world.
